You are Christmas Every Day
You are lying beneath a forest of white lights
With the delicate scent of pine icing the air, and the warm
Breathe of a fireplace heating my cheeks crimson.
You are the holy fire in the sky beckoning me forth from the desert,
Guiding my world-weary soul toward the face and the feet, of a precious king.
You are a sacred hymnal clutched to my breast, each papyrus page inscribed
In ancient ink, every note and clef and rest singularly recorded at the
Hand of a winged cherub.
You are the shore to my unanswered petitions that have been drifting
Without destination forever skyward into oceans of endless ether.
You are the rarest and most sacred of gifts.
My beloved and adored giftless drummer boy.
You are seraphic forces on horseback, my heavenly host descending.
Decimating fear, delivering tidings of great joy, calling me home.
You are Christmas Eve.
The moment I saw you, heaven came down.
I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday
When the snowman brings the snow
Well he just might like to know
He’s put a great big smile on somebody’s face
If you jump into your bed
Quickly cover up your head
Don’t you lock the doors
You know that sweet Santa Clause is on the way
Oh well I wish it could be Christmas everyday
When the kids start singing and the band begins to play
Oh I wish it could be Christmas everyday
Let the bells ring out for Christmas
When we’re skating in the park
If the snow cloud makes it dark
Then your rosy cheeks are gonna light my merry way
Now the frosty paws appear
And they’ve frozen up my ear
So we’ll lie by the fire
Till the sleet simply knocks ’em all the way
Well I wish it could be Christmas everyday
When the kids start singing and the band begins to play
Oh I wish it could be Christmas every day
So let the bells ring out for Christmas
I Hear The Bells
I hear the bells
Of Christmas night
And the carol plays
Ringing wide.
Angel’s chant
And the earth rejoice
Sing to praise
And lift up your voice.
It’s a festive day
And joy in the name
With cozy mood
Bring on the flame
Bells of sants
Come along
What more you need
Greater if this prolong.
Stars are shining
And passed away the mourn
For the love has formed
And the Christ is born
What Christmas Is Supposed To Be
Winding country roads all covered in snow
Blue smoke curls from a burning wood stove.
Fields lay silent enveloped in white
All is quite on this Christmas Eve night.
Pine limbs bend with the weight of snow
Children are home and the schools are closed.
Improvised sleds make the perfect ride
As down the hill our toboggans slide.
Popcorn strings and a few twinkle lights
Illuminate the tree in the corner just right.
Frost on the window with a warm hand thawed
Makes an icy pallet on which to draw.
Sparks from the burning wood crackle
Here and there
The familiar smell of smoke, dances in the air.
Santa is supposed to be coming tonight
So the fire be will snuffed out before midnight.
Mama’s bible on the dresser, a reminder to me
What Christmas is really supposed to be.
My Dad Would Like To Be Santa
His belly getting bigger,
And his hair is getting white.
His eyes shine and sparkle
Like the stars on Christmas night.
He couldn’t fit down the chimneys
When he can just fit through a door.
One mince pie would never do
He’d only ask for more.
He likes a nip of brandy;
It sets his cheeks aglow.
When he forgets the words to carols,
He just shouts: HO, HO, HO!
Happy Holidays
Christmas is the best time of year
To share your heart with all who’re near.
Giving, helping, and spreading cheer;
Remembering what matters here,
Your kids don’t care ‘bout all the crap.
They’ ll remember snuggling on your lap.
Gingerbread houses, festive singing,
Christmas light tours or handbells ringing.
Yes, yes, the gifts sure can be nice,
But please, go skating on the ice.
Stay in your pjs, have slow starts,
Play board games, and connect your hearts.
Cuddle parties and movie nights
Will fill your memories with delight.
‘Cause in the end the gifts will fade,
But you get to keep the memories made.
Show your loved ones they matter most
With your heart and not just your posts.
‘Cause boy, I’ll tell you, time sure flies,
Don’t miss the magic in their eyes.
Teach them young what it’s all about
By guiding them on a mindful route.
Presence truly is the greatest gift
To feel the love and watch hearts lift.
No, gifts don’t prove the love you give.
Model your love by the way you live.
Merry Christmas. Happy New Year, too.
May your hearts be full the whole year through.
